The Maltese islands are really mythical. The sinuous and narrow streets of his cities and villages count number of baroque palaces and cathedrals dating the Renaissance. The archipelago is described as a real open-air museum, because its territory is strewed with the most former structures to the world. The Maltese archipelago is situated in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, in 93 km in the South of Sicily and in 288 km east of Africa. The archipelago is constituted by three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino with a total population of 400,000 inhabitants on a surface of 316 square km, a coast of 196.8 km for the island of Malta and 56.01 km for the island of Gozo. Malta is the biggest island. It is the cultural, commercial and administrative center. Gozo is the second important island. Malta is more rural and is characterized by fishing, the tourism, the small business sector and the agriculture while Comino is practically uninhabited. Thanks to a warm and sunny climate all year round, the clear waters, the livened up(led) evenings and 7,000 years of history(story), there is a lot to make and to see on the archipelago. By means of one of the numerous tourist guides, the places of visit are easily recognizable - The Capital Vatletta as Paola's famous hypogaeum were named to the UNESCO world heritage. The fusion of the cultures and their influences through centuries, created a marriage of styles and traditions, giving to the archipelago a fascinating and eclectic culture.
