Mediterranean south country situated in the northwest of the African continent and in the center of the Maghreb, Algeria with a territory of 2.381.741 km2 (which3 % of arables and 85 % of desert) is the second country of Africa in surface, after Sudan, and the tenth of the world. Lined in the North by the Mediterranean Sea with about 1200 km of coast, Algeria is set between six countries and a territory: Morocco and Western Sahara on the West, Mauritania, Mali and Niger in the South and Libya and Tunisia in the East. The relief includes two big mountain ranges, Tell Atlas and Saharan Atlas, which train(form) the natural boundaries between three main regions of Algeria. In the North, at feet of the Tell Atlas are coastal plains. The winters are soft and the long and warm summer seasons there. Between both mountain ranges are situated High plateaus, semi-arid plains in the continental climate. In the South, Sahara extends over 2 millions of km2 and establishes(constitutes) one of the biggest deserts of the world. He(it) covers 85 % of the surface of Algeria and is established(constituted) by dunes, by ergs, by oasis and by mountains with the peak of Algeria, the mountain Hoggar in 3000 meters in height. The climate is there desert with important diurnal variations. Country in the contrasted relief and of a vast surface, Algeria offers a big variety of climates which become, with the estrangement of the sea, warmer and drier. The pluviometry increases from west to east and concentrates between September and May. The littoral zone in the North enjoys a Mediterranean climate with winters soft and a long warm summer period, moderated by sea breezes. The inside of the country benefits from a continental climate while in the South, the climate is desert with big diurnal variations, an extreme drought and sometimes torrent rains. The temperatures of the coastal zone oscillate between 5 and 15°C in winter and 25 in 35°C in summer, while in the South the temperature can achieve 50°C. A) Algiers Capitale of Algeria, situated in the North of the country on the Mediterranean Sea, Algiers is also administrative centre of wilaya. After Casablanca, it is in ascending order the second town of North Africa. Big Algiers includes the suburb and group include 28 municipalities. First port of the country, Algiers is a big center of export the industrial activity of which is essentially based on hydrocarbons, metal industry and food-processing industry. Algiers also shelters the first university of the country and an international airport. B) Oran In the northwest of the country, on the Mediterranean Sea, the Oran is the second economic center of the country, in 423 km from Algiers. Administrative centre of wilaya, it is an important shopping mall (the second port of the country), industrial, cultural and university. Oran counts 2 millions of habitans. C) Constantine Constantine is situated in the northeast of Algeria, in 424 km from Algiers and slightly decreasing of Mediterranean coast. Administrative center of wilaya, the city is situated in height (640 m) on a narrow rocky tray(plateau), surrounded by the bed of Rhumel with reaching(affecting) gorges(breasts) 100 m with depth on average. This city of business, industry and small business sector(crafts) counts a million inhabitants. D) Annaba Important port was situated in the northeast of Algeria and administrative center of wilaya, Annaba (formerly called Bône) is the fourth city of the country.
