Taverne Saint Germain

Taverne Saint Germain has been, for many years, a special place for me because of the location and one particular table. Just to the left of the door as you enter the restaurant is a single table in its own little niche. Separated from the street by a window yet so close that you feel as though you were siting outside. This is particularly delicious in the winter time. If there is a full moon you can see it from here in the sky over the spire of Saint Germain des Pres. For many years we were friendly with Jean-Pierre who seemed to be in charge of the place. He retired about 5 years ago and we miss him. The food is average brasserie fare but we enjoy the mussels. We last ate there on September 30 and we noticed a few days later that it was closed for renovations.
