The Raffles Hotel was declared as a National Monument in 1987 and is one of the few remaining great 19th-century hotels in the world. Due to its classical architecture and tropical gardens the Raffles Hotel has, throughout the years, gained recognition as a traveller's paradise and it's not difficult to see why. Its splendour ranges from the soaring atrium and grand timber staircases of the lobby to the space and proportions of the suites and the shady polished wood verandahs looking onto sun-dappled courtyards. Old engravings and photographs contribute to the sense of history as well as the antiques and art treasures found throughout.
